HEATHER COMES HOME: Local teen proves doctors wrong, continues recovery

Heather VanArsdale came home Friday, although doctors said she wouldn’t.

She talks and eats, although medical professionals say it’s impossible.

Heather is known as the “rock star of (the) brain injury” unit, according to a staffer at Cardinal Hill in Lexington and she is the reason Friday was proclaimed “Miracle Day” in Columbia and Adair County.

Heather still has a road of recovery ahead of her to strengthen her voice, her right arm and leg muscles, but she is far ahead of where doctors said she would be after a critical car accident last October.

“Right there is my answer to my prayer. I needed to be on a different path because He’s got a plan for her,” Beth said....
