The sixth-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team hosts St. Catharine (Ky.) in a doubleheader today at Lindsey Wilson Park. The first game is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT with the second game following immediately after.
The Blue Raiders (23-6, 7-3 MSC) most recently defeated Pikeville (Ky.) 8-0 on Sunday in the final game of a four-game weekend series. Chelsea Showers and Andrea Whelan each had four hits over the weekend. Showers finished the series with five RBIs and Whelan had three.
Showers leads Lindsey Wilson with a .485 batting average and 10 home runs.
Whelan leads the squad with 36 RBIs and is second on the team with nine home runs.
Lindsey Wilson’s pitching rotation is led by Casey Bryan who has a 9-2 record and a 1.68 earned run average. Jordan Hood and Lyndsey Parden are each 7-2, while Hood leads the team and MSC with 94 strikeouts.
St. Catharine (9-17, 3-7 MSC) recently fell 14-5 to Georgetown (Ky.) on Saturday.
Kolbi Mitchell is batting .359 on the season, while Shelbi Thornhill and Krystal Cammuse lead the Patriots with five home runs.
Cammuse owns a 4-7 record with a 6.07 earned run average and 80 strikeouts on the mound, while Brittany Mckee is 2-1.
This will be the first meeting between the two schools since March 29, 2013 when the Blue Raiders defeated the Patriots 13-0 and 10-2.
First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT.
