LWC women's golf placed fifth in Bulldog Invitational

Lindsey Wilson women’s golf duplicated its effort from Monday, firing another 325 today in the final round of the CU Bulldog Invitational at Windtree Golf Club.

The Blue Raiders end in fifth in the seven-team tournament with a two-day total of 646 (323-323).

Campbellsville (Ky.) captured the team-tournament title with a 606 (305-301) followed by Indiana Tech with a 611 (307-304).

Cristina Jimenez finished as the top Blue Raider, ending in fourth in the 42-woman event. She posted an 8-over par 152 (78-74) following today’s 74 on the par-72, 5,801-yard Windtree layout.

Jimenez -- who earned a spot on the all-tournament team -- concluded the tournament among the leaders in pars (22), birdies (3), par-4 scoring (4.31) and par-5 scoring (5.00).

Shayna Cockrill climbed two spots of the leaderboard from her opening-round finish to end the tournament in a tie for 23rd. She carded a two-day total of 166 (84-82).

Courtney Swindle, Amy Brown and Megan Kriz all finished just behind Cockrill.

Swindle ended in 26th with a 166 (84-82), Brown posted a 168 (79-89) to tie for 27th and Kriz finished tied for 29th with a 169 (83-86).

Kayla Cordeiro -- competing as an individual -- finished 32nd at 172 (89-83).

Campbellsville’s Cassidy Scantland earned medalist honors with a 3-under par 141 (70-71). Lindsey Wilson returns to action April 19-21 at the Mid-South Conference Championships at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood in Bardstown, Ky.
