LWC women’s swimming finishes 10th, men’s swimming takes 14th at NAIA National Championships

The Lindsey Wilson women’s swimming team finished in 10th place, while the men’s swimming team finished in 14th to conclude the 2015 NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships.

The women’s squad racked up 88 total team points as the men’s completed the championships with 54 points.

Laura Stephenson posted the best finish in program history as the first NAIA All-American with a third-place finish in the 200 yard butterfly event with a time of 2:06.03 and 16 team points.

Stephenson finished just under six seconds behind event winner Christi Tixier of Biola (Calif.), who set a new meet record with her time of 2:00.89.

Stephenson, Elena Nikolaeva, Kelsey Marshall and Courtney Fleeger teamed up to place 11th in the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 3:44.82 and earn 12 team points.

On the men’s side, the 400 freestyle relay team of Jose Prado de Lima, Zachary Patzer, Jonas Muller and Josh Lykins set a program record finishing in a time of 3:08.08 placing in 10th and earning 14 team points.

Prado de Lima also placed 19th in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:44.76, while Ryan Leamy came in 25th in a time of 17:27.09.

Oklahoma Baptist took home the men’s and women’s title with 1621.5 and 1581.5 points, respectively.
