Pursuit ends with arrest of Columbia man

A Columbia man was arrested following a short pursuit that started on Campbellsville Road and ended just a few miles down Liberty Road.

Adair County Sheriff Deputies Josh Durbin and Joey Keith attempted to make a traffic stop on a 2002 Chevy operating on Campbellsville Road.

The vehicle failed to stop and fled a short distance down Liberty Road when the driver Carlos Grant, 44 of Columbia, got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

After a short foot pursuit, Dep. Durbin deployed his taser, ending the foot chase.

Grant was arrested and charged with rear license plate not illuminated; fleeing or evading police, 1st degree, motor vehicle; fleeing or evading police, 2nd degree, on foot; and operating on a suspended/revoked operators license.

Grant was also arrested on two outstanding warrants.

Dep. Durbin is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by Dep. Keith, Columbia Police Officers Drew Conn and Johnny Dial as well as K-9 Gunner.
