Residents can apply for septic system grant

Posted

Residents of Adair County with failing septic systems can now apply for a grant to help treat their systems.

The Adair County judge executive’s office and PRIDE are accepting applications for a homeowner septic system grant during the month of March on a first come, first serve basis.

It is available for individuals who are low-income homeowners. The grant allows for homeowners to treat failing septic systems or straight pipe.

Homeowners have to meet 50 percent HUD income guidelines, provide a current copy of an electric bill with physical address (no P.O. boxes), proof of income of everyone in the home with recent check stubs, federal income taxes for the previous year or social security benefit statement and provide a copy of a recorded deed showing ownership.

Disqualifications include new home constructions, unoccupied homes, rental properties, leased properties and land contracts.

To apply, contact the county judge executive’s office, 424 Public Square. For more information, contact Lisa Greer at 284-4703 or email acjudge1@duo-county.com
