Adair County Schools has released a traffic plan outlining student pickup and drop-off routes at Adair County High School and the new Adair County Middle School as the district prepares for the start of the 2026-27 school year on Monday, Aug. 24.
Both student drop-off and pickup areas will be located behind the gymnasium at each school. Signage will be placed throughout the campuses to help direct parents and other motorists.
Parents are encouraged to plan their routes in advance and avoid Indian Drive when possible and utilize the Veterans’ Memorial Bypass when exiting the school campuses to help reduce congestion.
Anthony Darnell, director of transportation, said that the traffic plan is subject to change as the district evaluates traffic flow during the first days of school.
“We simply ask that parents remain patient,” Darnell said.
The beginning of the school year typically brings heavier traffic volumes on campus as parent drop-offs and pickups increase.
Parents are encouraged to review the traffic visual provided by the school district before arriving on campus and to follow posted signage and directions from school personnel.
