CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (11/14/2023) – On Monday November 13, 2023 at approximately 2:18 pm a Kentucky State Police Post 5 trooper observed a Honda passenger car with an illegible license plate traveling on Interstate 71.  The vehicle exited Interstate 71 at exit 28.  The trooper activated his emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle.  The operator of the vehicle, who was later identified as Wendi Jones failed to stop and continued traveling.

While in pursuit of the fleeing vehicle, near the intersection of KY 146 and KY 1606 the trooper's vehicle struck a Henry County Deputy's vehicle.  The deputy’s vehicle lost control exiting the roadway into a ditch.  The Henry County Deputy was transported to the hospital with injuries and has since been released.

Due to the operator's failure to stop and dangerous driving behavior the trooper conducted legal intervention to attempt to stop the vehicle. The Honda left the roadway and struck a tree.

At the conclusion of the pursuit Wendi Jones and the passenger Brandon Skinner, were taken into custody.  Ms. Jones has been charged with Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree(Motor Vehicle), Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree Police Officer, Possession of Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, Driving DUI Suspended License and other traffic related offenses.  Mr. Skinner was cited for Possession of Marijuana, Possession Drug Paraphernalia and released.
