VFW 6097 will host Memorial Day Service

VFW Post 6097 Columbia will present a Memorial Day program to honor fallen heroes beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The program will begin with opening ceremonies inside the VFW Hall on Fairground Street then will follow with the “Laying of the Wreaths” and other honors outside at the War Memorial.

Sgt. 1st Class Joe Webster will be the speaker. Webster is a native of New Orleans and is now active duty at Fort Campbell.  He is a veteran of the Iraq War and now serves as a Transition Assistance Career Counselor.

“Webster is a much decorated soldier and a true American Patriot,” says Post Commander Joe Hare. “It will interesting to hear what Memorial Day means to him and the current active duty soldier.”

The program is open to the public.
