The School Resource Officer is investigating after a high school teacher was accused of having inappropriate contact with a student.
Superintendent Alan Reed confirmed Friday that a local investigation is taking place and information will then be provided to the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board, which provides teacher certification.
Reed said the alleged contact involved social media between a teacher and a student. While Reed would not identify the teacher, he did confirm that English teacher Christopher Lowe resigned his position Nov. 2. Lowe, who is from Green County, was hired the fall of 2014. He graduated from Lindsey Wilson College in 2013.
Reed said there is not expected to be any criminal charges and the student was not a minor. He said he wanted to remind teachers and staff that inappropriate communications with students will not be tolerated.
“I want to remind all teachers and everybody that if we find out there are any inappropriate communications, through electronic communications or otherwise, it will not bode well for them,” Reed said.
Reed said the investigation began after another student reported an alleged incident.
