Two sisters have died and a third is in critical condition after a single vehicle wreck on Dunbar Hill Friday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office reports that Martha Crouch, 75, of Columbia, was driving a 2004 Nissan Sentry traveling north on Elkhorn Road when the vehicle left the right side of the road and hit a tree.
A passenger, Margaret Dunn, 85, died at the scene.
Another passenger, Josephine Hubbard, 83, of Columbia, was treated at the scene and airlifted to University of Kentucky hospital were she died from her injuries.
Ms. Crouch is listed in stable but critical condition.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Deputy Brandon Hitch and Sheriff Harrison Moss were assisted on scene by Adair County EMS, Adair County Search and Rescue, Knifley Fire Department and Adair County Fire Department.
