Garlan Baker, 86 years of Columbia, KY passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at 10:36 AM

at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky after several weeks illness.

He was born January 25, 1932 in Adair County, Kentucky the son of the late:

William Dewey and Iva May Keltner Baker he was preceded in death by these siblings, Thomas Baker, James Sonny Baker, Ruby Land, Lucille Sneed, Clara Adams, Geneva Yarberry, Bertha Marie Baker

Survived by his wife:  Doris Perkins Baker of Columbia, KY

Two daughters:

Caren (Charles) Hattersley of Nicholasville, Kentucky

Joyce Baker of Columbia, KY

One son:  Sam (Barb) Baker of Columbia, KY

Two Brothers:

Dulath (Jean)  Baker of Columbia, KY

Gleason (Bonnie) Baker of Lexington, North Carolina

One Sister: Ella Dee (Russell) Janes of Horse Cave, KY

Three grandchildren; Michelle Antle, Heidi Morris, Larry Hattersley

Five great grandchildren; William Hill, Adalynn Morris, Jade Antle, James Antle, Jared Antle

 

Mr. Baker was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church, a retired welder for Fisher Body in Chicago, Illinois and a farmer. He was a member of the Green River Kruzers Car Club and enjoyed woodworking and storytelling.

 

Funeral service:    Thursday April 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home

Clergy officiating: Rev. John Hatton

Interment in the Haven Hill Cemetery

The family request visiting after 4:00 PM on Wednesday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
