Azro L. Young, 95, of Louisville, formerly of Columbia, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII 92nd Evacuation Hospital Unit and a member of Harvest Baptist Church. He retired from Shamrock Construction Co. and Churchill Downs. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mattie Young; his devoted wife of 54 years, Edna Young; three sisters, Estelline, Ellery and Ellis; two brothers, Holland and Osborne; and a grandson, James Combest Young Jr., who served in Desert Storm. He is survived by two sons, James C. Young (Peggy) and Todd Young (Sharon); a daughter, Deborah Pait (H. Ray); five grandchildren and five great-granddaughters. The family would like to thank the staff at Elmcroft-Mt. Washington for their loving care. Funeral service was Monday, June 11 at Owen Funeral Home with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
