Creed Lacy, 82, of Fairplay, died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at TJ Health Columbia emergency room.

He was born on Oct. 28, 1934, in Adair County, and was the son of the late Elbert Tom and Glawdon Grider Lacy.

He was saved at Emory Chapel United Methodist Church and attended Hadley’s Community Church for several years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and drove a school bus for the Adair County school system for 46 years.

He is survived by his wife, Willa Bledsoe Lacy of Fairplay; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mackie Jo and Charles Pennington and Tamara and James Davidson all of Fairplay; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Caroly Lacy of Fairplay.

Several nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral service was Wednesday, April 19 at Grissom-Martin Funeral home with Rev. Ralph Hadley and Rev. Elbert Hadley officiating with burial in McClister Cemetery with full military honors presented by VFW Post 6097.

Casket bearers were Gerald Hadley, Anthony Hadley, Ronnie Bell, Ernie Bennett, Ronnie Scott, Dwayne Smith, Clifton Bennett and Kenneth Bennett.

Honorary casket bearers were Adair County school bus drivers and Bobby Gibbs.
