Donald Coomer, 84, of Columbia, KY died Monday, November 9, 2020 at his residence. Born in Argo, IL he is the son of the late Vasco and Pearl Gibson Coomer.
Mr. Coomer was of the Methodist faith and a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He enjoyed golf and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Dawn Sequist Coomer of Columbia, KY; a daughter Debra Coomer of Lexington, KY; a son Douglas Coomer of San Rafael, CA; three grandchildren Logan Coomer (Kayla), Kimberly Rapier and Mackenzie Minton (Brandon); two great-grandchildren Branson and Bryson Minton; six siblings Earl and Ronald Coomer, Cleda Coleman, Phyllis Akin, Betty Melson and Karren Lissak; several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five siblings Maurice, Dale and Elwood Coomer, Opal Coffey and Louise Coomer Allen.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery, with full military honors provided by VFW Post 6097. Visitation will be on Thursday after 8:30am at the funeral home.
Rev. Bill Davenport will be officiating and pallbearers will be Clyde Mizell, Ricky Tabor, Brandon Minton, Tony Grant, Richie Melson and Howard Loy.
