L.J. Tucker, 91, of Knifley, passed away Thursday, July 21 at Signature Health and Rehab at Summit Manor.

He was born May 6, 1925 and was the son of the late Leslie Erwin and Syrena McKinley Goodin Tucker of Adair County. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Oconal Tucker, Don Tucker and Roscoe Tucker; one sister, Bonnie Burton; and his wife, Eora England Tucker.

He is survived by three daughters, Brenda (Frankie) Feese, Teresa (Ricky) Burton and Syrena (Terry) Boston, all of Knifley; seven sons, Lee (Cathy) Tucker of Breeding, Donald (Cathy) Tucker of Columbia, Poochie (Janice) Tucker of Columbia, Gary (Lisa) Tucker of Columbia, Wendell Rickie (Carolyn) Tucker of Knifley, Johnnie (Juanita) Tucker of Knifley and Darrell (Diane) Tucker of Knifley; four step-daughters, Margie White, Linda (Bobby) Perkins, Judy Perkins, Mary Jo Alfaro, all of Knifley; one sister, Geneva Fair of Greensburg; and 21 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and a host of step grand and great grandchildren also survive.

L.J. was a founding member of the Hovious Mission church and a proud U.S. Army World War II veteran. He retired from the Kentucky Department of Highways with over 20 years’ service. He was a widely known gospel singer for many years with the Green River Boys, Victory Quartet and the Singing Tuckers.

Funeral service was Sunday, July 24 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. James Brown officiating and internment in the Robinson Chapel Cemetery at Knifley with full military honors presented by VFW Post 6097.

Pallbearers Caleb Boston, Jeff Greer, Jake Maggard, Justin Tucker, Rickie Lynn Tucker and Scott Tucker. Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Greer, Fred McCarol, Jared Tucker, Joey Tucker, Kenny Tucker and Mike Tucker.
