Mary E. Campbell, 81, of the Sparksville community, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Lawrenceburg after a short illness. She was born on April 12, 1936 in Breeding and was the daughter of the late James S. and Malcus Johnson Breeding. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Randall Rudolph “Rudy” Campbell on July 16, 2013. She is survived by one daughter, Leslie (Bill) Smith of Lawrenceburg; one son, John (Shirley) Campbell of Columbia; three brothers, Jim (Norene) Breeding of Bowling Green, John Carlisle (Rita) Breeding of Danville and Ben (Susan) Breeding of Springfield; one sister, Portia (Allen) Winchester of Lexington; sister-in-law, Audra Campbell of Columbia; and three grandsons, Chris Campbell, Brian Campbell and Cameron Campbell. Five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. She was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church, a retired teacher from the Adair County School System where she taught for 35 years and a homemaker. Funeral service was Wednesday, June 14 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary funeral home with Bro. Troy Elmore officiating and interment in the Antioch Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to Antioch Cemetery Fund or Gideon Bibles and can be left at the funeral home.
