Mary E. Hamlett Armstrong, 49, of Columbia, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She was born on Oct. 11, 1967 in Burkesville and was the daughter of the late James Richard Hamlett, who preceded her in death in 1974, and Mildred Lois Davis Hamlett, who survives of Columbia. Besides her mother, she is survived by one son, Troy Armstrong of Columbia; one brother, Richard Allen (Sharon) Hamlett of Columbia; and by two nieces, Jessica Hamlett and Emily Pike. Her aunt, uncle and a host of other family and relatives also survive. She was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Conover in 2012. Mary was a member of Melson Ridge Separate Baptist Church and had worked at Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville. Funeral service is today at 1 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Helm officiating with interment in Haven Hill Cemetery. Family request expression of sympathy to be a donation to the Galiean Home in Casey County and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Galilean Home, 712 South Fork Church Rd., Liberty, KY 42359. Pallbearers were Jeralyn Spires, Jason Reliford, Wayne Hopper and men from Melson Ridge Separate Baptist Church. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
