Opal Marsalin Richard, 88, of Gradyville, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Fair Oaks Health System in Jamestown, after several weeks illness.

She was born in Gradyville on Dec. 25, 1928 and was the daughter of the late John Lewis and Myra Hayes Tarter.

She married Edgar Richard on March 15, 1947. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1965. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Junior Tarter and Nolen “Clifford” Tarter and by one great grandson, Daniel Richard.

She is survived by two sons, Otley Richard and his wife Pat of Gradyville and Randall Richard and his wife Judy of Gradyville; four grandchildren, Mary Ann Branham, Doug (Susie) Richard, Phillip (Dana) Richard, and Michael (Laura) Richard; nine great grandchildren, McKensie Kelley and her husband Brandon, Anthony Richard, Jordan Richard, Kaylee Richard, Kaden Richard, Jessica Russell and her husband Chris, Sierra Fields and her husband Petey, Ava Grace and Courtney; and by two great grandchildren, Ava Lynn Russell and Clark Russell.

Mrs. Richard was a member of Gradyville Missionary Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Funeral service was Wednesday, April 26 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Weedman and Bro. Rocky Morrison officiating with interment in Union Cemetery at Gradyville.

Pallbearers were Brandon Kelley, Anthony Richard, Doug Richard, Jordon Richard, Michael Richard and Phillip Richard.

Honorary pallbearers were Dale Hayes, Dean Hayes, Darrell Pelston, Shelby Pelston, Stevie Pelston and Mark Richard.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
