Paul Sweet, 95, of the Breeding community, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 at his home in Columbia.
He was born on March 4, 1921 in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late Mack and Ruth Cramer Sweet. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elonora Louise Long Sweet on Oct. 27, 1993.
He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Marines in the south Pacific, a retired crane operator, a member of Operating Engineers Local 324 in Detroit, Mich. and a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Jennie Williams of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three grandchildren, Paul (MJ) Berklich of Rockford, Miss., Patrick (Kelly) Berklick of Lake Forest, Ill. and Jennifer Berklick of New York; and three great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral service was Monday, Aug. 15 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Pastor Rita Rhinehart officiating and burial in Fudge Cemetery with full military honors presented by VFW Post 6097.
