Ruth Winifred Blackwell, 91, of Columbia, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at her home after several months illness.

Mrs. Blackwell was a member of the Mount Moriah Methodist Church in Cumberland County, was employed at Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville for several years and was a homemaker.

She was born on Oct. 2, 1925 in Cumberland County and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Mattie R. Allen Williams.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Blackwell Sr. in 1972, and one son, Robert Blackwell Jr.

She is survived by ten children, Judy Lewis and husband James of Bardstown, Ruth Ann Blackwell of Campbellsville, Rannie Blackwell of Columbia, Marilyn Blackwell of Louisville, Sharon B. Brown of Prospect, Charlie F. Blackwell and wife Deborah of Louisville, Ronnie Blackwell of Columbia, Dale Blackwell of Columbia, Keith Blackwell of Louisville, Kelly Blackwell and wife Beth of Louisville; one daughter-in-law, Cynthia Blackwell of Bowling Green; and one sister, Lucille Graves of Glensfork. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral service was Tuesday, March 28 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Gene Norris, Rev. Michael Caldwell, Rev. Eric Shumake and Bro. Jimmie Dale Cox officiating with interment in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Brandon Blackwell, Bryce Blackwell, Triston Blackwell, Allen Brown, James Lewis and Benny Richardson.

Honorary pallbearers were James Lee Andrews, Charlie Frank Blackwell, Dale Blackwell, Keith Blackwell, Kelly Blackwell, Ronnie Wayne Blackwell, Jimmy Harmon and Brent Lasley.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
