Adair County Elementary School’s academic team came in first place overall and received a slew of other awards during Saturday’s 2025 Academic Team District Governor's Cup hosted at ACES.
The Adair County academic team competed against Green County Elementary School and Memorial Elementary from Hart County. The competition consisted of various written subjects including math, science, social studies, language arts, arts and humanities, and written composition.
Out of the three competing schools, Adair County’s Jaxton Stephens came in first in math, Cash Hare came in first in science, Clara Kotter came in second in social studies, and Rory Klecker came in first in composition. Owen Collins and Gabby Held received fifth place in math and science respectively. Sawyer Padgett and Susan Schlabach placed fourth in social studies and language arts respectively.
The Governor’s Cup also consisted of Future Problem Solving and Quick Recall, with Adair County winning first place in both. The Quick Recall competition was a double-elimination bracket. Adair County won against Green County in Round 1, Green County won against Memorial in Round 2, and then Adair County won against Green County again in Round 3.
