All Roads Lead to Homecoming for Lindsey Wilson

Posted

Homecoming Week is an integral part of the college experience each year, and Lindsey Wilson College is gearing up for its own, which will be held from September 25 through September 29.
There are, however, numerous events taking place throughout September leading up to Homecoming. Stephanie Blackwood, Director of Student Activities, said, “Our student government will be sponsoring various pep rallies. They will have fireworks and things leading up to the actual Homecoming dates.”
Along with these SGA-sponsored events, the nomination and voting process for Homecoming Court will be ongoing throughout the month.
“Nominations are happening now for Homecoming Court. All of our nominees are representatives of a club or sports team,” Blackwood, whose office is overseeing the election process, explained. The candidates will have a little over a week of campaigning before students will be prompted to vote.
Ultimately, two rounds of voting for the Court will take place. The first round will be to select the top five male and female candidates—a group that will be unveiled on September 25 ahead of voting for the King and Queen.
The Homecoming football game this year will be the Blue Raiders versus St. Andrews on September 28. Tickets will be 10 dollars at the gate. During halftime, for the Homecoming Ceremony, the Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned.
“As far as preparation, we are working kind of around the clock here. Our PR teams are gearing up… As far as prep for the events itself, our development office does a lot with Homecoming itself,” Blackwood said.
For this year, Homecoming’s theme is “All Roads Lead Home.” It is an appropriate message after a summer away for Lindsey’s student body, and a reminder that as the college expands and changes (as covered by the Community Voice), the same roads still lead to Lindsey Wilson.
