Adair County baseball improved their ranking by two spots from last week in the Prep Baseball Kentucky Power 25 rankings. The team moved from the 21st spot to the 19th spot.
The Indians were back on the field last Wednesday against Cumberland County. It was a slow start for the team being down by five runs starting the fifth inning, but three home runs tied the game.
Zane Gist’s grand slam in the sixth put Adair on top 10-6 and lead the team in RBI’s for the game. Coomer led in hits with two in four at bats. Overall the team accumulated six walks and stole six bases in the game to win 10-6.
On Thursday, the Indians were still on fire defeating Green County 15-4. Alex Martin had four hits with four at bats.
In the third inning, Adair County put nine runs on the board. Martin and Jasper Kemp both hit singles batting in two runs each. Aiden Smith and Jagger Kemp each singled batting in one run each. Dax Conn hit a sacrifice fly to score one run. Gist had another home run scoring two runs.
The Indians added five more runs in the fifth with Bryce Russell and Jackson Sinclair scoring a total of three runs. Smith’s homerun to left field gained two more runs.
Coomer still leads the state in homeruns with a total of 13 followed by Russell in fourth with 8. Coomer also leads the state in slugging percentage. The Adair County Indians team is ranked the number one school for team home runs for the season with 39.
