Girls’ golfers score major win against Casey County

The Adair County Lady Indians secured a win to be proud of against Casey County in Thursday’s match-up. Held at the Pines in Adair County, the home game demonstrated yet another time that the girls were able to shoot a game below 200, coming in at 199 against Casey County’s team score of 217.
“We came in all with a goal, and I think put too much pressure on ourselves. It seemed like we were all struggling, but once everyone finished up and we totaled the scores we had broken 200 again… This is a good thing because it shows improvement, that we don’t settle for mediocre. We want better for ourselves. We have high expectations now because we know we’re capable,” said Head Coach Ashley Goodin.
While none of Adair County’s golfers shot a score lower than the 45 that was the best score on the opposing team, none of them scored above a 66, which was the highest that a Casey County player scored. The 45 was also the only score from Casey County to come in below a 50; the second-best score was 10 points higher at 55.
Ashley Loy scored the best on the team, with an impressively low score of 46. Laney Inchcliff, similarly, shot a game of only a few points higher at 49. Other players shot well, with Claire Loy coming at with a 51. Gracie Gist got a 53, and Shae Inchcliff finished only a point higher at 54.
“Laney did great. She really helped us get that lower score with her personal best,” Coach Goodin said of her player.
The game was the team’s last home match of the season. Monday will be their conference tournament at Washington County’s Lincoln Homestead.
