During last Friday night’s girls’ basketball game against Marion County, the Lady Indians scored a win by a margin of nearly 30 points, going 71 to 42.
The win shows the girls expanding their margins of victory from the last three games in their winning streak, having emerged victorious against Glasgow, Casey County, LaRue County, and now Marion County. These ever-increasing scores for the Lady Indians also indicate the rough early days of the season are behind them, and that Coach Stacia Hill and the Indians have worked hard to become a team that can win by big numbers.
Most of the points for the Marion County game were scored by freshman Reese Bardin, who made 26 out of their 71 points. She scored 12 out of 14 total two-point field goals she shot and two out of six free-throw attempts. Kinzlee Akin also played well, putting 14 points on the board with four two-pointers, a three-pointer, and three free-throws out of the four she shot. Allee Campbell and Ila Loy tied for third, with each athlete scoring seven points for their team.
Where the real strength for the girls against Marion seemed to come was from the entire team working together. Nearly every athlete scored at least two or three points. The girls made, as a unit, 50% of their field goals, scoring 28 out of 56. They also made 52% of their free throws (13 out of 25) and had 32 total rebounds.
The girls next game is a home game versus Taylor County, played this Friday at 5:30 p.m. CST. Details about this game along with Tuesday night’s matchup at Warren Central will be in next week’s edition of the Adair County Community Voice.
