Adair County High School basketball standout Connor Loy has signed to play division 1 basketball for Jacksonville State University in Alabama.
Among his achievements at Adair, Loy currently holds the record as leading scorer for the school with 3019 career points. Loy joins an elite group of less than 10 basketball players in Adair County history who have played at a division 1 school.
Loy started playing basketball at four years old in little league and upward, then played AAU and travel ball for Coach Deron Breeze.
He started playing on the high school varsity team in 7th grade. Loy gives accolades to his dad, Matthew Loy, and Coach Breeze for being his biggest influences throughout his career.
Loy had offers from other schools, beut he believed Jacksonville State was his best option. He said he chose Jacksonville State because he likes the coach, and the school felt like a good fit for him.
During his career at Adair County, Loy has held the single season assist record, 128 wins, ranks number one in state for assists per game, was the 2025 Fifth Region Player of the Year and a finalist for Mr. Kentucky Basketball.
Winning back-to-back regional championships were career defining moments. However, Loy said, “I liked beating Taylor County in the District Championship this year and winning the AA Sectional my freshman year.”
The team played many larger teams across the state to prepare for their season. Loy said the better teams that they played, the better it made their team.
“It was a fun year; I really enjoyed it,” Loy said about his senior year at Adair County.
“We’ve had big crowds especially the last two years. We have great supporters in Adair County.”
