The Adair County Lady Indians conquer the LaRue County Lady Hawks

The Adair County Lady Indians conquered the LaRue County Lady Hawks on Monday night, scoring 62 to 56.
The score may appear tight, but it is not a full reflection of how well the Adair girls performed, especially for the first half. For some time, the Indians led LaRue by a wide margin, though this tightened significantly when the Lady Hawks made several solid plays. Over the course of the last half of the game, these plays (and some fouls) brought LaRue closer and closer to sealing the gap on Adair County’s lead.
As the score tightened, though, the girls became more and more able to keep themselves above water and carried them to a comfortable six-point margin of victory.
Kinzlee Akin, a Junior at Adair County High School, contributed 26 of the winning 62 points for her team. This includes making nine out of 12 attempted two-point field goals. She also made two three-pointers and two free throws. Ila Loy made three free throws and five out of seven attempted two-pointers, tallying up 13 points for the Lady Indians. Reese Bardin added nine points to the scoreboard. Addison Bowman, Shelby Riley and Allee Campbell all made four points. Ella Brown made a two-pointer.
The win against LaRue County establishes the Lady Indians as being on a winning streak. Last week, the girls beat Glasgow in a home game by similar margins, going 65 to 60.
“Props to Glasgow,” said the Indians’ head coach, Stacia Hill of that game. “I felt like they played a very good game versus us and were able to hit some shots they don’t normally make. They are an athletic team and were able to attack our weak points on defense. With that being said, our team is continually getting better and learning how to finish a game but really needs to learn to focus on the defensive side of the ball. We have proved we can score, now we have to be able to be a defensive presence. All together, it was a solid win for our program.”
In that game, Reese Bardin and Addison Bowman were the top scorers with 16 points each. They were followed up with Kinzlee Akin who scored 13 points and Ilay Loy who scored 12.

The girls have a home conference game versus the Marion County Knights on Friday at 5:30.
