William Woodruff “Woody” Cowan, 84 of Mosely Drive, Hopkinsville, Kentucky, died at 8:30 AM Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Christian Heights Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Cadiz, Kentucky of natural causes. There were no immediate services. The body was donated to science. Lamb Funeral Home in Hopkinsville was in charge of arrangements.

 

Woody was a native of Columbia, Kentucky. He was born June 19, 1933, the son of the late William Bryn and Ada Florence Simpson Cowan.

 

He was a factory worker at Phillips Product in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, a member of the Eagles Club and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

 

Survivors include two daughters: Phyllis Cowan Hammons and Janice Cowan, both of Clarksville, Tennessee; three sons: Billy Cowan and Ronnie Cowan both of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and Michael Cowan of Russellville, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.

 

Besides his parents, Woody was preceded in death by four sisters; Hazel (James) Feese, Mae Helen (Otis) Burton, Anna Bernice Cowan, Janice (Tyler) Bailey; three brothers: Carl (Jaunita Dailey) Cowan, Denver (Irne “Dumpy” Willis) Cowan, and Conly Cowan.
