Betty Bruce (Willoughby) Stokley

Betty Stokley, 89, of Clay City, formally from Adair County, passed away at her residence on Saturday, April 6, 2024. She was born April 13, 1934 in Winchester to Robert (Bob) and Mary Elizabeth Willoughby.

She was a homemaker, the matriarch of her family, a faithful Christian with a kind and gentle soul. She was a talented gardener, an amazing cook, and a devoted wife, mother, and mamaw.

She is survived by a son, Mathew (Judy) Stokley of Clay City; two daughters, Elizabeth (Casey)Fugate of Adair County and Joy Watkins of Winchester; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, eight great–great grandchildren; and two brothers, Carl Willoughby and Russell (Phyllis) Willoughby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Stokley; a son, James Stokley; a daughter, Audrey Stokley; and two brothers, Silas and Bobby Willoughby.

Graveside services were held Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the Stokley Cemetery in Clay City.

In lieu of flowers the family requests you practice random acts of kindness in her honor.
