Maggie Janes, 80, of Columbia, died Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
She was born March 19, 1944 in Adair County to the late Aussie ‘Rattler’ and Ida Willis Curry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Janes on December 23, 1994, her daughter, Leshia Fair on July 10, 2023; a grandson, Jeremy Norris, and three brothers, Thelbert, Gwen and Ben Curry, and two sisters, Darcie Radford and Nona Bess Bennett. Maggie was a member of Pollard’s Chapel Church, formerly worked at Fruit of the Loom and an in-home caregiver.
Survivors include one son, Todd Janes (Teresa) of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Steven Janes (Bethany), Heather Kirby (Kenny), April Gribbins (Caleb Medley), Dallas Fair (Brittany Combs), Amy Gray (Reuben), Sonya Cooper; 20 great- grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; one brother, Clifton Curry (Phyllis) of Columbia; one sister, Neil Curry of Columbia; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Jacob Davis and Bro. Victor Matney officiating and burial in Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the Union Cemetery, which can be left at the funeral home.
Casket bearers were Steven Janes, Dallas Fair, Kenny Kirby, Caleb Medley, Isiah Gilbert and Jacob Riggs.
Honorary casket bearers were grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Grissom-Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
