Golf teams compete at Heartland Conference

Posted

Both the Adair County boys’ and girls’ golf teams had standout performances at the recent Heartland Conference held at Lincoln Homestead in Washington County.
“It doesn’t qualify you to play in region, it’s just a conference tournament,” Girls’ Coach Goodin explained.
The Heartland Conference is similar to a district tournament in basketball, where local teams can play with and against those surrounding them. Teams from Washington, Hart, Marion, Taylor, Green, and, of course, Adair counties participated in the conference.
As a team, the girls shot a total of 390 across 18 holes. This score was comprised of new personal bests for many of the team members including Ashley Loy (who tied for sixth overall at the conference with a score of 87), Shae Inchcliff (who shot 106), Gracie Gist (who shot 107), and Claire Loy (who shot 109). Ila Loy came in eighth overall at Heartland with a score of 90. 390 was also the personal best for team score, according to Head Girls’ Golf Coach Ashley Goodin.
The boys’ golf team finished fourth out of six teams. Graham Robertson shot 77; JT Loy shot 79; Kaden Burton shot 85; Carson Coomer scored an 87; and Carson Darnell scored 102.
