Families had tremendous fun at the Fall Heritage Festival at Homeplace on Green River.
The Fall Heritage Festival, held on Saturday, was a perfect way to kick off the autumnal season. Approximately 1300 guests attended and enjoyed a variety of great attractions. The weather was ideal, with a touch of coolness and plenty of sunshine, setting the perfect festive mood for the season.
The festival was a melting pot of entertainment, featuring live music all day on the brand-new One Cross Stage with headliners Redwire Bluegrass Band, a wide array of delicious food from local companies, and a diverse selection of unique craft vendors. It was a feast for the senses and a celebration of local talent and culture.
Children enjoyed the bounce houses and tried their hand with a pole in the fishing derby and at the bow with the Lindsey Wilson College Archery Team. The Taylor County 4-H livestock club had animals, games to educate and delight visitors, and pumpkins and fresh produce for sale.
Guests were able to see how lard is rendered in antique kettles and how sorghum is pressed with mule power. There was a tanning demonstration, a flint knapping demo, a wood shingles-making demonstration, and tours of the historic Tate House.
